Sticky Date Pudding

I was away when Pie cooked the Banoffee so I have decided to do my report on the sticky date puddings we did the day before
The taste was very creamy, sweet, and blended very well together. There wasn’t too much sweetness in the sauce so that meant that you could taste the dates well and you weren’t overpowered with sweetness. The puddings smelt absolutely amazing and added very much to the taste of it all. Some of our puddings crumbled a bit when we took them out of the tray but once the sauce was poured over it, they looked very appetizing. They were soft, fluffy and bouncy to the touch. I think that these puddings were amazing and could even possibly be better than some I’ve had in restaurants. The recipe was very good and understandable too.
The recipe was really easy to follow and because it didn’t exactly require that much effort it didn’t take up much time either. They turned out perfectly and I was really pleased with them. I wouldn’t have changed anything about the recipe but when serving I definitely would’ve added cream and ice-cream in the bowl. I think it was really smart that we cooked them in muffin tins because they were the perfect size and weren’t too filling.

Chicken Parmigiana

Our chicken parmigianas were really wonderful! The tomato relish that we used was different to what I usually have on them and so it was a bit surprising but it turned out to be better than I thought. It was really sweet and tasty and blended perfectly with the cheese on top and the chicken under it. The chips that we made sort of failed because they were just from a packet and can never be that reliable so they didn’t turn out crispy or brown like I had hoped and ended up staying an odd yellow colour, which was disappointing. We probably should’ve cooked the chicken in smaller portions because we found out that they were too thick and just wouldn’t cook the whole way through. Fortunately when we put them in the oven they cooked thoroughly. They smelt really good and it was also really nice to have a side of salad to top it off and make it fresh and lovely.
Our recipe was fairly easy to understand and the steps weren’t too difficult. We could’ve possibly presented it a bit better instead of messy like we did but I think it changes it up and makes it a little bit different to the usual.
I think we could’ve improved it by slicing the chicken thinner and having them in equal portions that were long and thin instead of short and fat. If I ever was to do this meal again I would make my own chips and not have them as oily.
I give this recipe a 4/5

Creamy Bacon FettuciniDSC00011.JPGI really enjoyed the finished product of the Fettucini. The pasta was cooked to a perfect texture and the bacon provided a bit of a different taste whenever you got some. I think that there was a perfect blend of everything in the dish, meaning one ingredient wasn't overwhelming the rest of the food. The texture of the pasta was quite soft and smooth, especially because it was covered with the creamy sauce, the bacon was cooked to a crisp, rough feel around the edges and a smoother texture in the middle. The dish smelt very appetizing, it was hard to resist eating it straight away and once I did eat it, I was really pleased with the result. The food was filling, and really delicious. All the flavours came together in my mouth and made it a perfect dish. I was really happy with it!
The finished product was harder to present than I thought it would be because there was so much of it and not very many things we could put it on to make it appear appetizing. Once we selected the small dish to put a little serve of the pasta in I realised that that was most probably the best selection we could have made. We didn't fill up the screen with too much of the pasta but rather gave the viewers a "little taste". The dish itself did turn out how we wanted too, although the recipe we followed was quite vague and could have been written a bit better so as to understand how to follow it, but we ended up getting help from Mrs Miles and Krissy so we didn't make too many mistakes with the dish.
The only thing I might've done differently next time would be to look at a better explained recipe and possibly add a little bit more bacon to the recipe, just to see how that would turn out.

Tomato and Olive tarts!

DSC00685_2.JPG

2. The mixed tastes of the tomato and olive tarts made a very blended taste. All the different selections of foods really tied together to make a really flavoursome piece of food. The colours, red for the tomatoes and sun dried tomatoes and the beautiful brown of the Calamata olives, all came together really well and and ended up being very pleasing to the eye. After they were cooked, the pastry became golden and crispy and also puffed up slightly so as to encase all the other foods in a little cup. Since they were so small, it made it even better because they were bite sized. When you put them in your mouth, the flavours all came together and was a really pleasing sensation.

3. I really enjoyed this food. I enjoyed making it because it wasn't too hard, but it also wasn't too easy to it was accomplishing and fulfilling. Once it was finished, the best part began. Eating the food was amazing! Even though they were very small and didn't last long, it was really great to know that I cooked something that tasted so amazing.

4. The finished product was definately succesful and I think that it was definately worth making.

5. The only improvement I might suggest for anyone else that might make these tarts would be to make them larger and in a larger quantity. Although eight - ten seemed like a large number, they went really fast and they were in face, very small.

6. On the hedonic scale I would rate it a 5 out of 5.
