Sticky Date Pudding As we wern't able to cook our Crumble dessert, I decided i'd do my product evaluation on the Sticky Date Pudding we made. In terms of taste, the pudding and caramel sauce in particular was delicious. They looked amazing when we drizzled the golden caramel sauce over the brown spongy pudding.
Chicken Dumpling Soup Our Chicken Dumplings were good. They tasted delicious and looked amazing but didn’t have a great texture as they went a bit soggy when we added them to the soup. We combined chicken mince, spring onion, chives and lots of coriander for the filling for the dumplings, which gave it lots of flavour and combined with an Asian style soup, it tasted fantastic. It had an appetizing aroma, subtly smelling of soy-sauce and coriander. It had a soft, slimy touch to it. The dumpling pastry melted in my mouth when I took a bite leaving behind the warm, chewy filling, whilst the hot soup ran down my throat, making no sound. Overall I enjoyed this meal, but it could have been better. The finished product was alright. I don’t think it turned out exactly how it was supposed to, but thankfully, it wasn’t a complete disaster. The recipe wasn’t too difficult to follow although it took a lot longer to cook than we intended, also the 3rd step was confusing as we had to separate the ingredients and cook them in 3 separate pans! We didn’t make any changes to the recipe, we followed it step by step right till the end. Unfortunately, as the meal took so long to cook we were unable to take a photo, so didn’t bother with the presentation.

Satay Chicken
Our finished product was a success! Everything about it was amazing. It tasted great, with a subtle peanut flavour and delicate soy tang. It also looked amazing, it was very colourful with bright red capsicum slices and green broccoli stems poking out of the yellow tinted noodles. Our dish smelled of peanuts and, being covered in sauce was slimy to touch. The meal was still warm after we’d served, decorated and photographed it. When taking a bite, the noodles and chicken made no noise in contrast to the capsicum and broccoli, which made a slight crunching sound. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish and will be thrilled to make it again. The quality of our food and the presentation really was exceptional. I didn’t think it’d be anywhere as good as what it was and I was proud of Kerrie and myself! It turned out exactly as it was supposed to, if not better. It was a fairly basic recipe to follow, we didn’t have any problems.
Originally the recipe only included capsicum, but I decided to add hokien noodles and broccoli to make it more interesting, other than that we didn’t change the recipe or method at all.

Pea and Pasta Frittata with prosciutto
Our finished product looked amazing as a pasta dish, but as a frittata, it didn’t look so good. If we had measured the pasta, the frittata would have tasted quite nice but because we had an excessive amount of pasta, it didn’t cook properly, giving the dish a raw egg sauce. Unfortunately, being so eggy, the dish didn’t smell so nice and had a slimy touch to it. After decorating and photographing it, the pasta had set to room temperature which made it even grosser. The recipe was made up of soft ingredients, including pasta, peas and sliced omelette, so it didn’t make any noise when taking a bite.
Overall I didn’t enjoy the dish, it tasted disgusting and I probably won’t even try to make it again.
Originally the frittata was meant to be sliced in small squares and wrapped in prosciutto. The woven prosciutto placed on top of the pasta looks a lot better. The presentation was marvellous but the quality of the food was appalling. I regret choosing the recipe Kerrie and I chose. It was extremely difficult to follow; we didn’t know what half the ingredients were when we got to actually cooking the recipe and it took a lot longer than we thought to cook it, we should have thought harder about what we were doing.
The whole dish turned out completely different to what I was thinking. The whole thing was a complete fail!
We didn’t intend to change the recipe, followed the recipe, step by step – just how we found it, but accidently added too much pasta so we basically improvised from then on.
